An interesting point which comes from this interview, is that the gun cupboard had a number of items in front of it, so that it couldn't be opened without moving the items.

Yes, I'd picked that up. The question which comes immediately to mind is who would got to the bother of putting things in front to the cupboard door which conceals a boxed silencer which has incriminating blood on it? It occurs to me that it might have been much easier to simply run it under the tap.
