Oh we women make loads of mistakes usually involve men.  It is in our nature.

Police work is macho in nature so is bound to be male dominated and even more so in 1980s.  I am not conviced women police would have made much difference but I suspect they would not have jumped to the murder/suicide theory so soon and allowed evidience to be distroyed so soon.

Juries are selcted by random and although there is an opportunity to challenge their composition this is not taken to the extremes as in United States and I think wisely so.  In the end the jury does not a great deal of effect on the outcome of a trial in my experience.  They are probably not competent to deal with complex evidence and that is invariably the issue in modern times.
