I expect to get shouted down for this, but animals are known to react strongly to influences beyond human perception. Therefore (takes a deep breath) it is more likely that it reacted with fear to escalating insanity, than to someone walking about with a gun, which would have been a regular occurance.
Good morning April. I agree with you when you said about the dog having reacted to the fear,,as an animal does react in this way to an uncharacteristic side of a persons' behaviour, and it knows to keep its head down when that happens.I had a German Shepherd ( who ruled the roost ) until I'd shout at the kids, then he'd go and hide because of the " tone " of my voice and because I meant business.
I believe that if Jeremy was supposed to have murdered his family,,that he'd have shot the dog first because of its yapping ( which he couldn't stand ) and the fact that the noise from it could have caused uwanted attention. After all,if he was portrayed as a psychopath, shooting a dog wouldn't mean a thing, after shooting foxes, etc.
Because Sheila had carried out the killings, the dog,in her mind, had done nothing to upset her so therefore to cause it harm wouldn't have been on her " list ".
BTW,did anyone notice yesterdays news about schizoprenia and psychosis.? On the increase and we're still in the dark on how to treat such patients,so in 1985,there was no chance,if 27 years later we're still no further on. Only now are they connecting ante-natal depression with post-partum illnesses. As women commit suicide during pregnancy and not just after.
