   Do you know if negotiations were in an advanced stage before the trial, there is some doubt as to when the exclusive contracts were signed ?

The negotiations were concluded before the trial.  The judge, jury, the defence and even the prosecution legal team were lied to about this.

Yes.  The payment depended upon a conviction.

In my view it would have made an enormous difference.  I think the attitude of the trial judge would have been different had he not been misled about this.
