2004 Interview with drug dealer
« on: August 11, 2011, 09:35:PM »
I never got to publish this interview but here is an out-take.

SPARKFILMS

Can you run that last bit past me again.

DEALER

Sure man, I supply an MP with heroin.

SPARKFILMS

An MP with ******* heroin?

DEALER

Yeah, have been for 4 years now.

SPARKFILMS

How much to name him?

DEALER

Who said it was a him?

This is on tape. He wouldn't give me a name, though he did own up to it being a man.

The interviews I did with Ipswich prostitutes around the same time ( before Suffolk Serial Murders ) were published.

Not to sure where we are going here Sparky. Are you suggesting that Sheila may have been on the game, to subsidise her income.
It has been mentioned that Sheila had some sort of venerial desease, not sure about this though.
Sheila's modelling contracts had dried up, and she needed money.
Sorry to speak ill of the dead, but this is only a question, and I mean no disrespect.

This is not connected to WHF.

( I was casting models in London in the 1980's through a network of photographers and no one was aware of Shelia doing any commercial work of note ).

Sorry Sparky, mind in overdrive again. Must have been a senior moment.
My appologies.

No need to apologise Cliff, my mind is in constant overdrive.

As for Shelia and the model thing. It was rare to see a model with a couple of kids in their early twenties. The real models were career driven and children had to wait a while.

From memory around that time, most photographic models had a career from around 18 to 28 and virtually none of them were mothers. I can only recall one.

This all reminds me....Paul and Barry Ryan were very decent fashion photographers.

SPARKFILMS

An MP

A Magistrate

DRUG DEALER

Make that two magistrates man

SPARKFILMS

OK, two magistrates,

An ambulance driver

Members of the fire brigade

One traffic policeman

One professional footballer

DRUG DEALER

It's two pro players and an ex pro

SPARKFILMS

Thank you

Members of the local council

A social worker

A radio presenter

and a headmaster

DRUG DEALER

Makes no difference to me man. Anyone got the money can have the stuff. I know I got a decent client list but that never happened overnight.

SPARKFILMS

How much are you making...let's say in a year?

DRUG DEALER

About £400,000

SPARKFILMS

SPARKFILMS

So it's Ryan and you're 15

RYAN

Yep

SPARKFILMS

And how would you describe what you do?

RYAN

Delivery service

SPARKFILMS

A delivery service, ok, anything else?

RYAN

Well it's door to door and it usually takes about half an hour from pick up to drop off

SPARKFILMS

And what mode of transport do you use for these deliveries

RYAN

Me bike

SPARKFILMS

Low maintenace then

RYAN

Can't get any lower, if there's a problem I'd get another bike

SPARKFILMS

What, steal one you mean?

RYAN

I stole all me bikes

SPARKFILMS

How many would that be?

RYAN

Dunno, aint counted, but I reckon maybe 10 or 15

SPARKFILMS

How long have you been making these deliveries?

RYAN

About 3 years

SPARKFILMS

So by the time you were 13 you were on a nice little earner

RYAN

I was earning more than me step dad

SPARKFILMS

How much roughly

RYAN

About £300 a week

( Interview recorded on the street April 2004 ).

SPARKFILMS

So what you are saying then is that you invented your own kind of language and codes to confuse the police who were hacking into your mobiles and text.

DRUG DEALER No.2

******* right.

SPARKFILMS

And some of these descriptions were in the form of drink mixers.

DRUG DEALER No.2

Yeah.

SPARKFILMS

Give me an example please.

DRUG DEALER No.2

Rum and coke

SPARKFILMS

So what was a rum and coke.

DRUG DEALER No.2

Well at that time in might have been a crack rock, but see, we were changin names evry week or so.

SPARKFILMS

Was this throwing the police off the scent

DRUG DEALER No.2

Without doubt, it confused the **** out of them. See - we always need to be ahead of the game, that way it's them havin' to do all the chasin' man

SPARKFILMS

Neat work

DRUG DEALER No.2

Thanks very much, do you want some skunk to take home for your missus?

SPARKFILMS

No thanks, nice thought though...my missus is long gone anyway.

He never gave me any names, but one Saturday night we ( that's me and one of the working girls ) sat outside of his place between about 2am and 4am - less a trip to the all night garage for coffee / chocolate / crisps etc.

Katie was able to identify some of those that went to the property, but none of the 'A' list. There must have been about a dozen or so visits, split between one and two people at a time.

Katie would do a calculation that if each spend was around £30 that would equate to him taking in somewhere around £200 an hour.

Katie thought DRUG DEALER was serving from 10am till around 6am most weekends, which left very little time for our man to sleep.

I would like to add that DRUG DEALER did not take the stuff himself, was someone I got to like in a way, and he even shared some of the poetry he had written with me, which was pretty good - not to mention the great coffee on hand - made with actual coffee beans no less.
