A war with China will only happen if China invades Taiwan.

China make's no secret of its desire to conquer what it regards as a rouge province of the mainland state. However I would be very surprised if they take the risk.

Should China succeed, its no guarantee that the US will come to liberate the Taiwanese. It would require a colossal commitment of lives and equipment and the US population does not have appetite for such conflict. Unless they can form a coalition task force with Australia, Japan and South Korea.

I don't accept the main thrust of the film's argument that America is the aggressor in all this. I did find the Shanghai businessman Eric Li entertaining at 57:38.

I don't see what the West could do in practice. As with Russia and Crimea I would have thought it likely that China would take the spoils.

The majority of Crimea wanted to join the Russian Federation. The same cannot be said of Taiwan. They hate each other and anticipate a Chinese invasion thus they have fortified their western coast lines.

There is no guarantee that China would succeed in the first place. An amphibious invasion is very difficult to pull off hence they haven’t invaded yet.
