There may be no significance, but given how close to the murder scene it was found, the fact that it had been concealed and that it appeared to have been there a long time, I'd have thought they would have wanted to test it - after all, if it turns out to be the murder weapon, it may well have the killer's DNA on it.

If they're convinced they got the right person, finding the murder weapon with his DNA would prove their case conclusively. So what are they afraid of I wonder?

In 2010 they found a knife with Luke's name on it.

This is so wrong. I just don’t understand why they didn’t test the knife as it was found so near to the crime scene. I don’t know I just despair sometimes , even if it confirmed Luke to be the killer it would be worth it as the evidence against him was so poor.

Do they still have the knife to test? Can’t independent tests be carried out?

i asume so or they would be trying fr an appeal based on it..

i dont think independant testing is allowed in scotland the law may have changed though.
