The same as it would smell out a dead rabbit - luck. But that is the problem, an untrained dog, would just go off and sniff out anything, the training makes them focus on the thing they are supposed to be looking for and ignore other distractions. A trained dog sniffing out drugs would ignore some lamb chops for instance whereas my dog, would just eat the lamb chops.

I don't understand your point Nugs, my dog passes dead rabbits quite often (I k ow because you can smell them) and he goes nowhere near.   should also mention that when a dog walker finds a body, it's not always the dog that find it!

No Nugs, that's MY dog who will walk past - other dogs love a dead rabbit. That's the problem on here, too many sweeping statements. How do you know that it's usually the dog that find the body? Where is the proof for that?

im not saying dogs allways will find bodys im saying any dog under the right cercumstances the idea that only  fully trained tracker dog can find a body is absurd.

OK, yes, I'd agree with that but it does beg the question about why they thought it necessary to mention tracker dogs in the first place?
